Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- No Yeast, No Fuss: This recipe uses baking powder, making it quick and straightforward.

- Versatility: These pita breads can be served with dishes, used for sandwiches, or enjoyed with dips.
Ingredients For No Yeast No Oven Easy Pita Breads:
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 cup lukewarm water
- 2 tsp baking powder
- About 4 cups or more all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- More flour to shape the dough
- More olive oil if preferred before serving
Preparing The Dough:
- Add 1/2 cup plain yogurt and liquid warm water to mixing bowl.
- Instead of yeast, simply add baking powder into the mixture. Then give it a good stir.
- Add 3 and a half cups flour first. Then add 1 tsp salt. Stir the dough mixture with a wooden poon.
- After you cannot stir with a wooden spoon, continue to knead with your hands. And add left over flour until it becomes soft playable dough. And then let it rest for 10 minutes.
Shaping and Cooking Breads:
- Cut the dough into 12 pieces. Then shape the dough pieces into balls again. And roll out the pieces into 15 to 20 centimeters in diameter.
- To cook my easy “bazlama”s, I used cast iron griddle pan. If you don’t have, you can use regular cast iron or non-stick pan as well. And make sure to cover the dough balls with damp cloth while your are baking the others.
- There are couple of tricks to cook it well. First one is, the pan should be heated well. The heat well. The heat will be like medium high. Second, flip the breads when you see the bubbles.
- To keep them soft, you can cover it with a damp cloth while cooking them or oil them before serving.
Tips for Perfect Pita Breads
- Heat Matters: Ensure your pan is well-heated before starting. The right temperature is crucial for that perfect puff and soft texture.
- Keep Covered: A damp cloth keeps the pita breads soft and warm until you’re ready to serve them.
- Serving Suggestions: These pita breads are incredibly versatile. Enjoy them with a traditional Turkish breakfast, fill them with your favorite sandwich ingredients, or pair them with your main dishes as a delightful side.
